2024 AGM

The AGM was held this evening at the clubhouse. Here are a few key points that came out of the meeting.

  • There were approx 35 members present.
  • There will be a subs evening / open evening on the last Thursday in March (28th) bring your friends!
  • Ann reminded everyone that she needs everyone’s contact details so messages can be distributed when required. Please check that both she and your captains have your up-to-date information.
  • Roy Davies and Ruth Penlington will be joining the committee.
  • Team captains were confirmed – please check on the “Teams” menu item above.
  • VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS. Guess what, volunteers are needed to help the Club run smoothly as well as within budget. If you can help with any of the following, no matter in only a small way, please contact Ann.
    Committee; bar; grounds maintenance (greens and surrounds); work parties.
  • Subs will be rising in 2024 to £40 for adults and £5 for juniors.
  • Green fees will increase by 50p per game.
  • All players must ensure they have paid their subs before they compete in a match.
  • Reps were appointed to attend League meetings.

Presidents Day 2023

Yesterday we held our President’s Day 2023. Whilst it wasn’t as well attended as in previous years, everyone who did come seemed to have a good time. The competition was a draw-for-partners mixed doubles and the draw threw up some very good partnerships. The eventual winners were Ruth Penlington and Paul Gollins, with Margaret Mason and Roy Davies runners-up. The trophies and prizes were presented by our President Ann Mitchell.

Thanks to all helpers on the day – especially the ladies in the kitchen. Hope we’ll see more of you next year.

Club Quiz Friday 13th October

We’re holding a Quiz.

Starts 7pm on Friday 13th October in the Clubhouse. Price is £10 per person to include a choice of hot supper e.g. fish and chips. Vegetarian option available. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available from the bar. You will need to give your supper order at time of purchase.

Presidents Day 2023

Come one come all. This year’s Presidents Day/Bowling Competition will be held on Sunday 24th September at 10:00 prompt.

It will be a draw-for-partners doubles competition and to be included in the draw you must be there by 10:00 am.

Food and drinks will be available to buy throughout the day.

In order to help plan, please can you sign-up in advance on the sheet on the notice board in the club room.

The Sunshine Cup

The Sunshine Cup, a draw for partners, round-robin doubles tournament, was played yesterday 30th July 2023.

Bob was the organiser and he won his own Cup in partnership with Lynda Gollins. This was predominantly an intra club tournament but we did have some guests from other clubs, one of whom made it to the final. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and between us we had plenty of food.

We only had 22 players though, and with something like 140 club members this was a little disappointing. We hope to see more of you at the next one!

We know some people had said they weren’t aware of it, but it was on the Club Notice Board and on this website. If you have any suggestions for how we can better advertise club events in the future, please do let somebody know. You can put a comment on this post; email the webmaster or speak to anybody you know on the committee.

Mid-summer Sunday Bowling Tournament

Sunday 30th July 2023

Doubles- draw for partners. 10 am for a 10:30 start. Only £10 per person including refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches, savouries and cakes). £5 for non-bowling friends and family.
