Crown Green Bowling in Whitchurch, Shropshire
The Club held its Fun Day for the Bowls’ Big Weekend yesterday. We were very lucky with the weather, it was a beautiful day. 30 people attended with quite a few taking membership application forms away with them whilst existing members were glad to catch up with each other and practice their bowling. Some games were set up for those who wanted to have a go.
Colin and Paul helped the beginners; there were free refreshments and a good time was had by all.

The Whitchurch League has chosen to increase the number of Divisions to 10 and reduce the number of teams per division. Thereby allowing a home and away leg for each pairing in the shortened season.
Division 1 will consist of 12 players per team. Divisions 2 to 9, 10 players and Division 10, 8 players.
The Malpas Seniors League has gone the other way and reduced the number of Divisions and increased the number of teams per division. Thereby allowing greater variety of opposition but only allowing for playing each opponent once. It’s the luck of the draw whether that is a home match or an away match.
Lets hope the weather improves (I’ve been quite glad not to be on the greens this May), and I wish you all a good season.
As mentioned in an earlier post, Chester Road Bowling Club will be participating in the Bowls’ Big Weekend. We have organised a Fun Day on Sunday 30th May between 11am and 2pm for people of all ages who would like to try their hand at bowls. You can register in advance by calling Ann on 07429 519869. There will be some members there to welcome beginners so please come along and give it a whirl.

The structure of the League has been amended to take account of the shorter playing season. There will be 5 Divisions each of 8 teams. It looks like teams have been allocated to Divisions based on their finishing positions in 2019.
The fixtures have now been released for the Premier League 2021 season. The 2021 season will be a 10 a side league featuring 12 teams. Burway and Newport will not take part this season but hope to be back next one. The league will start on Friday 21st May and finish on Friday 1st October with two Wednesday games featuring games against local clubs to minimise travelling.

Chester Road Bowling Club will be participating in the Bowls Big Weekend 2021. This is a national initiative taking place over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, 28th May – 31st May 2021. This will be an opportunity to promote our welcoming and socially-distanced sport and attract new members.
We will be holding a Fun Day on the Sunday (30th May). There will be an opportunity for people of all ages to come along and have a go with free refreshments provided.
