Colin is organising another “Relay Comp” on Sunday 3rd October 11:00am start. Because of the format, numbers are strictly limited so please sign-up as soon as possible on the sheet that will go up in the Club House on Monday evening. If you don’t know what this entails please see the earlier post about the one that was held a few weeks ago here. It’s a fun format and a bit different from what we are used to. Last chance really to play outdoors this season as the greens will be closing soon after.
President’s Day 2021 – Results
This year’s President’s Day was held today in, for the most part, perfect weather until maybe 10 minutes before the final finished, when we had a rain shower.
The format was the usual doubles round-robin in groups followed by semi-finals and then a final.
The finalists were Denise Thelwell and Jack Purcell v Richard Sheasby and Richard Shrimplin. The final was hard fought, with it being a draw at the end of the designated 9 ends necessitating a play-off end. Eventually the 2 Richards triumphed.
Quite a few spectators turned up to watch and I think it’s safe to say all the participants had a good time. Everyone brought their own picnic to keep us as Covid safe as possible and they were able to be enjoyed in the open air.
Thanks to Colin Meikle the organiser and his family who helped out with the scoring. Thanks also to the volunteers who helped with teas and coffees and any other jobs that needed doing.

President’s Day 2021
President’s Day 2021 is going ahead on Sunday 26th September. 10:00am prompt start.
Everyone should bring their own picnic so we can be Covid safe. Drinks will be available to buy.
You will need to sign up for this one and there will be a sign-up sheet on the Club Notice Board. Everyone welcome. Please spread the word to others who may not see the website or the Club notice Boards.
Intra club comp 4/9/21
This afternoon we had an intra-club friendly comp at the Club which was organised by Colin & Eilidh. Only 12 people turned up, probably because it was quite short notice and it has been more difficult to spread the word this season, but those who were there enjoyed themselves so thanks to Colin and Eilidh for doing it.
Colin split us into 4 teams of 3 and each team played each other. The premis was that team member 1 in each team played their opposite number in the opposing team for a limited number of ends and then passed the “baton” on to team member 2 who carried on from where their team member left off for their designated number of ends and so on. Sounds complicated but it was fairly straight forward once we got going. No idea who “won” and I don’t think that was the point. The main thing was that we all mixed and socialised and had a good afternoon out.
2 of our newest members turned up so it was nice to be able to welcome them to the Club. Even the weather held off for us and towards the end of the afternoon the sun came out!
