The Club’s 2020 AGM was held last night at the Doddington Lodge hotel and was very well attended.

There were no particularly controversial issues on the agenda and the following points were the ones I picked up of note:

• Members were advised that over the winter the shelter by the big green has been extended to more comfortably accommodate both home and away teams.
• Membership has increased slightly from 2018 rising from 139 to 142.
• Subscriptions for the coming year will remain unchanged i.e. £25 per adult; £16 for ages 16 – 18 and £5 for juniors under 16.
• The President, Secretary and Treasurer were re-elected enbloc.
• Committee Members wishing to continue were re-elected but there are now 2 vacancies due to 2 people not wishing to be re-elected. The Secretary re-iterated that there are no limits to the Committee Membership and anyone wishing to serve should contact her.
• Sub payment / Open evening will be held on Wed 25th March 2020. Due to some people being late in paying their subs last year, Captains will be instructed that anyone who has still not paid their subs by May will not be able to bowl in any teams.
• There are still 2 or 3 teams who do not have captains for the coming season. I’m sure if you play in one of those teams you will know who you are. It is imperative a) that teams have a designated captain in order to function and b) that they are decided immediately because Leagues are waiting to print their books. Please, if you feel you could fulfill this role contact Ann as soon as you can.
• Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers – A plea was made for more volunteers to help the Club function – in particular volunteers are needed to man (or woman) the bar; make hot drinks on match nights and to help with grounds maintenance – i.e. a bit of light gardening to keep the surrounds of the greens looking neat and tidy. If you think you can help please contact Ann.
• A discussion was held about when the greens could be available for practice and it is hoped that this will be possible from the beginning of March or even earlier, weather permitting. I will try and post a notice on the website when this happens.
