Crown Green Bowling in Whitchurch, Shropshire
Well, we hadn’t anticipated playing Thringles but there just happened to be 27 people who turned up for the Fun Day. This meant we could be divided into 3 groups of 9, allowing 4 games per group. I’m not going to try and explain the rules of Thringles here, but suffice it to say that this produced a winner from each group who then played off in a final for a CUP!

for Chester Road Members and guests. “Three times the fun of singles” 10:30 until we’re done so it might be a good idea to bring a packed lunch. The draw will be made on the day with players seeded to attempt to ensure teams are balanced.

The C team had a very enjoyable, and successful, afternoon yesterday playing in the first round (which is also the quarter finals) of the Jeff Carter trophy in the Malpas Seniors League.
The Jeff Carter Trophy is a doubles team competition, something that we don’t get much opportunity to play in the normal course of events, and is played on a neutral green. We were cheerfully hosted by Cunliffe Bowling Club which not many of us had been to before. It therefore lived up to its neutrality in spades but turned out to be a beautiful green to play.
The weather also smiled on us despite Irene’s weather app telling us we were in for some thunder and lightning. We decided to put our faith in Christine’s app which promised sunshine and clouds. This is what was mostly delivered with just a couple of smatterings of showers.
Unfortunately I didn’t think to take any photographs so those of you who know the ground will just have to use your imagination.
