Colin Meikle our stalwart Competition Organiser, decided that he would like to try starting an Intraclub Sunday League and set about conning (err sorry, recruiting and persuading) 24 gullible people to participate. The 24 have been split into 4 permanent teams of 6 with the unlikely names of: The Old Dribblers; the All Stars; the Marvels and the Rascals. The idea is that each team will play each other team over 3 Sundays spread across the remainder of the season.
The format of the competition is 6 singles, 3 doubles and 2 triples with a point being available for each winning team in each contest. Meaning there are a maximum of 11 points available between the 2 teams competing.
Today was the first leg of the League and most games were played in the rain. I think everyone enjoyed the competition in spite of the weather which only goes to prove we really are all crazy.
Today, the Rascals beat the Old Dribblers 6 games to 5 and the Marvels beat the All Stars 8 games to 3. So currently the League Table stands as follows:

The next leg is to be played on Sunday 7th August. We are almost certain to need substitutes to stand in and cover for absences so if you didn’t play today and are interested in doing so please have a word with Colin or somebody who can get a message to Colin.
Long term, Colin is hopeful that the concept can grow and expand in future years. Come along and watch even if you don’t play to get a feel for it.
