Crown Green Bowling in Whitchurch, Shropshire
Very many congratulations to our A team in this league. They have finished at the top of Division 1 and are therefore overall winners of the League.
Congratulations go too to the B team who finished 2nd in Division 2 while in Division 3 the C team pulled themselves up to 4th.
Well done to everyone who participated and good luck for next season.
As the season draws to it’s close we would like to congratulate our C team who have been playing in Division 3 in the Barlows Senior League. After a nail biting wait for the final results to be posted, our team finished second in their division and should be promoted to Division 2 next season.
Well done everyone!
Congratulations also to Preston Brockhurst B, who topped the leader board and to Malpas Farmers who finished 3rd and gave us a run for our money.
The Shropshire County Bowling Association’s Veterans Inter-League Competition was played at the Club today with the final being held at the Archibald Worthington Club late this afternoon.
The final was won by the team from Mid-Shropshire.
This year’s Lunch and Bowls had to be postponed 24 hours due to the weather forecast for Sunday. This proved to be a good decision since it rained most of the day on Sunday but stayed dry for us on Monday.
Everyone who attended had a good time, with 52 people participating in the round-robin double bowls competition and settling down to a fantastic lunch provided by Members.
The bowling was eventually won by an out-of-club team comprising Marion Pritchard (Malpas BC & I) and David Taylor (Wem BC).
Congratulations to them and well done to the runners up of Anne Wilson (Chester Rd BC) and George Hall (Malpas BC &I).
Thanks to everybody involved in the organising of the day and especially to Ann Mitchell who organised the lunch and John Mitchell in charge of the bowling competition.

The final of the Jeff Carter Cup, which is a team doubles competition for the Third Division of the Malpas Seniors League, was played yesterday afternoon at Whixall.
Competing were Chester Road’s own “C” team against a team from Bersham. Bersham are new to the League this year and are performing very strongly in the League matches.
Bersham triumphed yesterday, beating our own team 84 to 45. However, a good time was had by all and we congratulate Bersham on their win!
We would also like to thank Whixall for their hospitality.

Our annual Lunch and Bowls event is coming up on Sunday 26th Aug 2018.
Enjoy a splendid lunch and a day bowling with friends in a Fun Round Robin Bowls competition with a draw for partners.
The cost is £11 per ticket (same price as last year). Admission is by ticket only which may be bought from the Club and MUST be purchased in advance so that we know how many people to cater for.
The day will start at 10:00 am prompt so be there in good time.

The greens are both parched at the moment like everywhere else and running super fast. A lot of jacks and woods are running off and games are taking an age to play with players having to wait for woods to trundle to a halt. I’ve never seen jacks and woods turn so much on this green. Still, I think it’s better than the flooding in April.
Last night one of our members collapsed on the green having a heart attack.
With the quick actions of John Salisbury who gave CPR and Steve Richards who administered the defib he was brought back and his life was saved.
Luckily a paramedic attended quickly and soon after about 20 minutes an ambulance arrived to blue light him to Stoke where he is making a good recovery.
Brian had had symptoms earlier in the day but didn’t recognise them as a heart attack.
Due to the prompt actions of his team mates his life was saved.
The club has only had the defibrillator since 12th May – just one month.
